| Description: |
General Info: Car always garaged, lightly driven, odometer shows 20,600 miles, but surely over the 100K mark. Current owner for 14 years, previous history unknown. Car body and interior have been slowly restored over the entire 14-year period, currently at about 90% complete, with only minor body and interior work needed.
Clear title
Engine: Straight eight cylinder, 288 c.i., 135 hp, Series 23. Engine starts right up, and idles and runs good. Like all older cars that have to use leaded gas, could use a tune-up. Oil, oil filter, spark plugs, and antifreeze last changed less than 2,000 miles. Service records available.
Electrical: 6 volt system, battery 24 months old.
Transmission: Three-speed manual, on column, with overdrive. Shifter and linkages reworked, overdrive checked, and transmission fluid changed 2,000 miles ago.
Body: Exterior repainted 8 years ago to match an original Packard color scheme. Little if any rust. There are a few surface scratches caused by another garage occupant and that have been touched up, although not perfectly repainted; but not visible from a reasonable distance. Some metal has been re-chromed, the rest varies from smooth to light pitting, but most shiny. Cormorant hood ornament shiny, like new (note: the cormorant was not originally standard on the Deluxe Eight model, and can sell on EBay for $300). Fulton Windshield Visor like new (note: these currently are listed on EBay for about $800.) All glass intact, but with one rear window surface crack (window still operable). All doors and locks (including trunk) fully operable and smooth. Fog lamps installed (but not connected to the fog light button on interior control panel).
Tires and brakes: Tread still good on tires. Original Packard hubcaps. Brakes good, emergency brake cable replaced 5 years ago, works fine.
Interior: All considered very good. Seats re-upholstered 7 years ago to match the exterior color scheme. Rubber mats and carpet good, a few rough spots on carpet. Headliner intact, good condition, although somewhat darkened from the original tan color. Dash and woodgrains good. Interior door panels fair to good. Speedometer, gas, temperature, oil pressure, and battery gauges; heater; and interior and exterior lights all work. Only non-working accessory is the clock. No radio.
This style is the classic Packard mid-century design, similar to 1940 through 1949 models. Last before the 1951 and 1952 models.
