Lunch on the private patio.

It was a beautiful Sunday morning when we met at the Bertolotti Car Collection in Santa Clara. On arrival we had Starbucks Coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts to fuel us up until lunch.

Ohs and Ahhs were heard as the car enthusiasts viewed The Bertolotti collection. John Bertolotti provided a personal overview of his truly outstanding collection. About 60% of the cars are pre 1925, with Packards from 1906,1907, 1912, & 1914. He has nine Pierce Arrows, a Thomas Flyer, three Stutz Bearcats, a Mercer Raceabout and a Simplex. In addition, the collection included sports cars from the '50s, '60s and '70s. Each car was a 100-point car, the building is spotless; no dust anywhere. It was breathtaking to see such a great car collection. Director George Beck presented John Bertolotti with some Packard Club gifts as a small token of appreciation and also gave thanks to Mike O'Connor for arranging the visit.

We traveled 25 miles down the road to Morgan Hill to visit the Guglielmo Winery. In transit, a Packard Quiz was provided to pass the time. The winner of the Packard Quiz, only missing one question, was Phil Sherman. In second place was Jerry Wuichet, third place Jack Holmes and fourth place Don Sears. Credit also to the supportive wives. Thanks to all the participating Quiz players.

At the Guglielmo Winery we were able to park the Packards on the winery courtyard and created an impressive display. It was a pleasure to see Larry and Juana Carter's 1932 Dual Cowl 903 Packard and Jack and Mona Passey's 1932 Dietrich sport dual cowl Phaetons. Probably one of the worlds largest and most impressive vehicles, the Phaetons looked spectacular on the Guglielmo courtyard. It was the first time Larry and Juana Carter have been able to join us on a tour, although they have been members for some time. It was great seeing Jack and Mona Passey as well.

Gene Guglielmo was there to greet us and make us feel welcome and invited us to taste his wonderful wines. Gene spoke about the Guglielmo Family winery and proceeded to cook his special pesto pasta for us. In the Grape Arbor and umbrella patio, we were served a wonderful Buffet lunch, Salami & cheese with sliced baguette, garlic bread, green salad, pesto pasta with plenty of garlic and Italian cookies for Dessert. While we finished up our lunch, Larry Nannini gave us a recap of our social events, followed by a few words from Director George Beck. George also presented Gene Guglielmo with a Packard Club gift to show our gratitude for his wonderful pesto pasta and hospitality.

Jack Passey talked to us about his new book, which will be available in the spring (We can hardly wait for its release.) The happy and satisfied group received a goody bag filled with complimentary wineglasses, Guglielmo water and Halloween candies for the ride home.
